History

Shotton I.T. Resource Centre was set up and is owned by Shotton Partnership 2000 Ltd. – a group of local volunteers who came together to help regenerate the ex-mining village.

When we first opened the Centre our idea was to give local people easy access to computers and basic I.T. training and it soon became apparent that a wider range of courses was needed. To address this issue we linked with other training providers and were able to increase the variety of courses we could offer.

The Centre continues to be successful and has received acclamation for quality, including the prestigious national Investors in People accreditation.

Since opening in June 2000, the Centre has enjoyed continual success with an ever increasing membership.

In 2004 the Centre became an accredited test centre for delivery of City & Guilds Certificates in Literacy and/or Numeracy at both levels 1 and 2.

In Dec 2007 the centre was awarded accreditation by the British Computer Society to deliver the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) and also the Level 2 BCS E-Type touch typing qualification.
